Mayfield Intelligence Operations Start a pilot

Engagement

Every engagement
begins with a pilot.

Before entering any long-term arrangement, Mayfield runs a pilot phase. You see the capability working on your own organisation — dark web monitoring, OSINT analysis, breach detection — before anything scales. It is how we demonstrate accuracy, confidentiality and measurable outcome, and how every client partnership starts on proven value rather than on a promise.

Scope a pilot

01 How it runs

Four stages.

No long-term arrangement is entered into before you have seen the capability working on your own organisation.

  1. 01

    Scope

We agree what to watch: domains, executives, brands, counterparties.

  2. 02

    Collect

Monitoring goes live across open, deep and closed sources.

  3. 03

    Report

Findings delivered in the format your legal or compliance function needs.

  4. 04

    Decide

You judge the value on real findings, then choose whether to scale.

02 What is included

What you get.

A pilot is a real engagement at reduced scope — not a demonstration environment and not sample data.

01
An agreed watch list
Domains, executives, brands and counterparties — scoped with you, in writing, before anything goes live.
02
Live collection
Monitoring running across open, deep and closed sources for the duration of the pilot.
03
Alerting on real findings
Material findings reach you as they surface, with source, date and an analyst’s assessment.
04
A written closing report
What was found, what it means, and an honest statement of what the period did not surface.

We will tell you before we start if we think a pilot is unlikely to surface anything useful for your organisation. A pilot that wastes your budget costs us more than the fee is worth.

03 Common questions

What does a pilot cost?

It depends on the watch list and the sources in scope, so we scope it in writing before anything is agreed. There is no charge for that scoping conversation, and no obligation to proceed once you have the figure.

How long does a pilot run?

Long enough to produce a real result rather than a demonstration — typically a few weeks. Some capabilities, such as due diligence on a named subject, are a single piece of work rather than a monitoring period, and we scope those differently.

What if the pilot finds nothing?

That is a legitimate outcome and we report it as one. A documented period of clean monitoring is useful in itself, and it tells you something about your exposure. We would rather tell you that than manufacture a finding to justify a retainer.

Are we committed to anything afterwards?

No. The point of a pilot is that you judge the value on real findings from your own organisation before deciding whether to scale. If you do not want to continue, the engagement ends with the closing report.

Who sees the findings?

Whoever you nominate, and nobody else. Engagements are confidential by default and we will work to your own confidentiality terms rather than insisting on ours.

We will come back with a scope and a figure in writing. No charge for the conversation, and no obligation once you have it.
